Come join the fun during Companion Club's 1st Annual "Picnic with the Pups", hosted by Companion Club Dog Park and this year's partner rescue group Humane Society of Delaware County.

Why a "Picnic with the Pups"?
Picnic with the Pups will be an annual Companion Club Dog Park, LLC event designed where companion dogs and their guardians can play together on 11-acres of beautiful secure grounds.  This year's event will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2005 from 10-5 PM EST at CCC.  In addition to great food, drink and live jazz music, the event will help promote awareness of the growing number of homeless pets and the dedicated staff and volunteers of various rescue organizations who work tirelessly to provide them with safe and loving, forever homes.

When is the Picnic with the Pups?
The Picnic will take place the last Saturday in August. This year’s event will be Saturday, August 27th, 2005.

When do Picnic Day activities start?
Picnic Day Activities start at 10:00 AM EST and end at 5:00 PM EST.  Join
Marshall McPeek of NBC Channel 4 in the Ribbon cutting ceremony for our new upscale Doggy Day Care at 11:00 AM EST.  Grr-eat food and beverages, compliments of Patrick J's Grille and Visions Catering served from 12-2:00 PM EST.  Biscuit and wine tasting will start at 2 PM EST.

Is there a charge to participate in the Picnic?
Entrance fee for CCC members is $10 per family, for non-CCC members $15 per family, with all proceeds to be shared among the participating rescue groups.  These organizations are working hard to make this Picnic a success and to ensure that you and your companion dog have a safe and fun time. We encourage you to visit their web sites and learn more about their programs and activities to help reduce the number of homeless dogs.

What should I know about bringing my companion dog?
In order to ensure the safety of everyone and their companion dogs, we ask that you:

  • Only bring a companion dog(s) that is six months or older and has(have) been neutered or spayed.
  • Bring proof that your companion dog(s) is(are) current on rabies, bordetella, and DHLPPC vaccinations.
  • Ensure your companion dog is on a leash six feet or shorter when you enter CCC. If you normally use a flexi lead, please keep it locked at six feet or shorter.   Leashes must be with guardians at all times.
  • Please leave your companion dog at home if he/she is afraid of people, nervous of loud noises, not comfortable around other dogs, snaps at people or other companion dogs when they get too close.  Your companion dog will not have a good time and could cause injury to him/herself, you, other companion dogs or their guardians.

May I come without a dog?
Most definitely!   Kids and adults alike are encouraged to join the fun.  And, if you’re looking for a companion dog, this is THE event for you.  Many rescue groups and their adoptable dogs will be in attendance. That gives you the opportunity to check out many different breeds, as well as mixed breeds, all in one place.

Should I bring water for my dog?
It’s not necessary as there will be water provided at the Picnic site.

What can I expect to see and do at the Picnic?
In addition to participating in the Picnic, you will see all types of companion dogs having a great time with their guardians.  You’ll also have an opportunity to visit our new upscale Doggy Day Care Center.

As you wander down Rescue Row, you’ll have the opportunity to find out first hand what the rescue groups do and meet some of the dogs available for adoption. The dogs wearing blue bandanas are the ones looking for a forever home.  There will also be many vendors offering a variety of services and merchandise, much of it related to companion dogs.

Also, be sure to bring your appetite since your entrance fee includes samples of some delicious appetizers and wine from the Vineyards of Dog House Winery in Santa Rosa, CA (includes a variety of grr-eat biscuits for your companion dog).  Live musical entertainment guaranteed to sooth even the most savage beast provided by "Standard Time Jazz Trio"!

The absolutely best thing you can do at the Picnic is have a great time with your four-legged best friend!

What facilities will be available?
At the Information Booth you’ll be able to get a Picnic Day program, a map of the Picnic site and answers to Picnic-related questions. Our new Doggy Day Care will also serve as a first aid canine station, courtesy of Capital Veterinary Referral Emergency Center. Picnic staff and volunteers, easily recognizable in their Companion Club Dog Park t-shirts, will be located throughout the Club area.  Don’t hesitate to ask them questions or for assistance.
